I lead a HECTIC life...
I mean seriously, between pulling splinters out of Simon's rear,
helping Temperance spell and draw hearts,
making sure Andrew doesn't attack the dog with a rake because he's the "Red Panther",
ensuring that Judah, Levi and Emma do their school, getting to work on time,
getting to church at Medart Assembly on time and still remembering to feed the kids!!
Not to mention getting the house and laundry at least partially done so Mamma doesn't have a panic attack when she gets home!
It gets exhausting... Lonely. Hard. Stressful.. Pointless??
What is the point of it? I mean sure some poor kid in Africa has it worse, yaddah yaddah yaddah..
But this is MY life, I live in America where I should get what I want, when I want it and how I want it!
Why work when I can protest?? Me, Me, ME. That's what life's supposed to be all about right??
What's the point of helping Tempi write her name? She'll just forget by tomorrow.
Why should I be the one to bandage Simon's wounds?? He's just going to go right back outside and get another one.
Is there any PURPOSE behind all these things I do that they just forget about in the blink of an eye??
I'm sure if you're reading this you've had similar thoughts/pity parties. You've had times where you think you're ALONE in the world, no one REALLY cares, no one COMPLETELY understands what's going on.
Truth is everyone has their own little hectic life. Not just you, not just me. And when having these little pity parties we are missing some of the most important moments in our lives! Not because we aren't there for them but because we have the wrong attitude.
Instead of being concerned for the injured brother or excited for the learning sister we've become APATHETIC towards them.
Ever heard the phrase "I've got my own problems!"? Or how about "I'm busy."and "Whatever."?
Those are apathetic and self-centered phrases.
Sorry to break it to you, but the world doesn't revolve around you and it definitely doesn't revolve around me!
It revolves around the Word of God. Seriously! God is so much more awesome than you or I that He steps out of time, out of space and forget having the world revolve around Him all he needs is voice activation!
He has given us so many opportunities to glorify Him and make great memories, but we just let them pass by. Look around you!
Take a step out of your "Me Zone" and look at this hectic life God has given you and ask yourself a question.
What are you gonna do with it?

If I'm Honest
Authors Note: I wrote this back in October and was asked by my Dad for personal reasons not to post it until the beginning of the year.
Some of you may be wondering how things are going since all that "church drama". Some of you may not have even known that there was any, and if you want to know more you should talk to one of us personally.
Now let me start out by saying that I think church politics are stupid and that the way things were handled with my family was poorly timed.
All that aside, I am NOT here to start even more drama. I am here to tell you all how my family has handled being mistreated.
We have, as a whole, felt cast away, thrown out and unwanted by those who have for a long time called us friends.
We have been so hurt by the lack of care shown by the church family that we were a part of for 15 years!
I mean hello! I grew up with most of you as either teachers, mentors or friends.
Only one person has even bothered talking to me personally to see how I was doing, and I know I am not the only one in my family who is shocked that so few people have checked on us.
We have gone through so many different stages of grief in such a short time that the only way I can describe how we're doing so well is God and God alone.
Some of us have gotten stuck at different stages; shock, unbelief, anger, hurt and finally we've all come to the last stage acceptance.
We have accepted that although we felt wronged there is no way we could ever hate or wish bad things on those who betrayed us.
We have accepted that God has something wonderful in store for us and right now we're just waiting.
We have accepted that things will never be as they were and that our love for our River of Life family will never fade.
I only have a few requests for you Dear Reader.
First of all, please don't listen to rumors and deceit about us or anyone else.
Ever.
Secondly, don't distance yourself from us, we haven't changed in anything except where we worship, we still worship the same way and the same God.
My last request is that you will keep us in your prayers, we are your brothers and sisters in Christ and would greatly appreciate some spiritual protection.
Thank you so much for letting us be in your fellowship for so long.

Insanity
The past few weeks have been insane! Not necessarily bad insane, but insane nonetheless. Let's see, what have you guys missed?
Well Daddy, Mamma, Mark, Blake, Nikki, Johnna, Alison, Claudia, Levi and I ran a 5k! The Kaleidoscope Color Run to be precise. Technically Mamma and Nikki walked, but they finished so it counts! 😜
It was definitely exhausting, but it was fun and everyone enjoyed it.
In other news, Blake and Mamma have jobs now! Yay! They are both working at 1 Fresh Stir Fry. She is also working at Michaels. My Dad has been getting quite a few tech jobs as well, so thank you Jesus for your blessings!
Johnna and Mark have both put in applications at Starbucks(also known as 5bucks) and I put in mine at Maurice's,(I have an interview on Oct. 1) please be praying that we get the jobs!
Lately we've started having family band practice, where my Daddy teaches us to play different worship songs, along with the occaisional veggietales silly song.
Nikki and Johnna alternate Piano, Daddy, Lala and Blake do acoustic guitar, Mark does drums(Ali's learning those!), I do acoustic bass and we all sing. We sound pretty darn good too if you ask me!
Little to no arguments have been had lately. Kinda surprising, but hey good attitudes are always welcome!
We finally put some family photos on the walls, they look really nice! Oh, and I'm supposed to get my license this week!
Also, we started the Schedule last week. I'll try to explain that in another post soon!
Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us, we know we are loved. Until next time!

The Buddy System
In order to help you guys understand a little bit more of what goes on at the Hill House, I'm going to start doing some informative posts such as this one.
Today I'm going to show you how the Buddy System works.
In the Buddy System, each older kid is assigned a younger kid, these are called "buddies". Here are the assignments for our family: Johnna-Simon, Charissa-Tempi, Alison-Andrew and Claudia-Victoria. Now you may have noticed that there are some names missing from that list. Well there are.
Gideon is taken care of by everyone, but his favorite person is Daddy.
Mark is kind've the overseer of Emma, Judah and Levi. They're old enough to get their own food and get themselves dressed, Mark just ensures that they remember to do these things, and Nikki ensures that Mark does. 😉
The duties of buddies include: making sure the child is woken up, dressed (diaper changed in Tori's case), fed, hair and teeth brushed, and that they are following the Schedule(we'll discuss that in a different post). We also make sure they're ready to go when we go places.
All in all this system works really well for everyone.
It helps us older kids get lots of time with the younger kids while providing us with real world parenting experience, it helps my parents not to stress as much and it helps the younger kids get educated more quickly! How? They emulate us, we have this amazing chance to mentor our younger siblings, and I think we do it pretty well.

Book of Funny Conversations
A lot of times in the Hill house we have silly or crazy conversations, this will be a continually updated post in which I will let you share a few laughs with us.
Temperance and my mother were sitting on the couch talking-
Tempi: When you wear a dress you are supposed to cross your legs.
Mamma: That's right, so people won't see your panties.
Tempi: But my panties are really cute! *pulls up dress*
At the Biltmore Simon had a butterfly on his finger.-
Simon: Look, now I'm a Disney princess!
Also at the Biltmore after sitting on some red dirt-
Ali: Do I have red on my butt?
Levi: I don't know let me check
*Levi pulls her pants away from her butt.*
*Alison jumped away screeching*
Alison: I meant on my pants!!
Temperance pondering things during breakfast-
Tempi: Gideon came out of Daddy's tummy since he's a boy.

Shocking Summer
Hello Everyone, I'm sorry that it's been so long since I've updated. The past few weeks have been...interesting. In fact, this whole summer has been full of life changing experiences.
Some of you know and many of you don't know that on July 11th of this year my 4 year old cousin, Hannah, went to be with Jesus. Usually I wouldn't say for sure that someone was with Jesus because only God knows the heart. However, I don't believe that she had reached the age of accountability yet so I am certain that she is with the Father. This tragedy was extremely unexpected and I hope you will join me in continually praying for my extended family.
After this shocking experience, we tried to return some semblance of normalcy to our lives and I dare say we were succeeding. We even had Johnna's graduation ceremony; which was a tear-jerking celebration.
During my Dad's sabbatical we took a family vacation. Everyone went, including Nikki and Blake.
First we went to North Carolina, rented a cabin and visited the Biltmore Estate. It was beautiful we had a lot of fun exploring the gardens, touring the house and rolling down hills.

After that, we traveled to Georgia where we visited with my Aunt Sarah and her husband, Uncle Wesley. They were extremely gracious in letting 17 people invade their living space.
We went to Six Flags over Georgia; hands down the Batman is the best ride there. Thankfully everyone was able to keep their food down for all of the rides we were on.
Sadly our excursion came to an end and we returned home to reality - the reality that my Dad had to resign. Not because anyone did anything wrong, simply because the staff at the church feels that it is time to take the music in a new direction. We were and still are heartbroken by this decision, but we trust in God's bigger picture not our immediate circumstances. We are all looking forward to new opportunities.
Right now even though life can seem crazy and full of turmoil this scripture has been helping me. Who knows? Maybe it will lift you up too.
Isaiah 43:2-3, NIV
"When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze."

Weekly Wonders
This past week has been an extremely humbling experience for me.
Johnna, Alison, Claudia and I went on a mission trip with our youth group.
Now most people when they think mission trip think about out of the country trips, or working in soup kitchens. While both of those activities are great, that is not what we did.
Our youth group went to Panama City, stayed at a Christian beach resort and every day we went to the Boys and Girls Club. While we were there we would play with the younger and older kids ages ranging from 6-16. We also worked outside the building cleaning up trash, trimming trees and bushes, and cutting vines off of fences.

Working with these kids was so much fun! We played dodge ball, basketball, colored, ran around playing tag or hula hooping, We did anything and everything that they wanted to do. At least three of the kids there accepted Christ Jesus into their hearts; it was amazing.
I learned a lot there, first and foremost being that sports are definitely NOT my forte. As much as I tried to play basketball among other athletically inclined games, I ended up getting hit in the face with the ball more times than I care to say.
One of my favorite experiences, was when a 9 year old little boy came and showed me his favorite book which was a New Testament Bible and proceeded to read me the Lord's Prayer. It was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen.

It was also really great to grow closer with my youth group, being able to speak into the lives of the younger ones in the group was a fantastic opportunity!
Friday we went to Shipwreck Island, a water park. It was tons of fun roaming around with Johnna and our friend Sarah; we went on the same ride at least 5 times just to talk to the lifeguards who had great senses of humor.
Overall, I was thrilled with the experiences I had on this trip.
During the time that we were away, my dad fixed the refrigerator's water thingie and the rest of the family went bowling without us. Or as Emma texted Johnna, "boiling".
I'd like to take a moment to say goodbye to Pascal who passed away last week due to food poisoning.(he ate something he shouldn't have.) Goodbye.
Tonight my parents went with some friends to watch Guardians of the Galaxy. Johnna and I were slightly put off by this because we wanted to watch it also, but alas adults like to go out with other adults, go figure!
Until next week, thank you for reading!

A Loopy Little Week
So, my plan for this weekly update was to go through and tell y'all everything that went on this week. however, when I started trying to type it, I learned that it's quite a tedious job and I don't want people getting bored half way through, so I'll leave you with the highlights of each day and a few other things. Let's see how it goes shall we?
Highlights of each day: After church on Sunday, my parents went out to eat with some old friends and the rest of us went home to feed children.
Johnna and I were the lunch masters of the day, we had roast and gravy with mashed potatoes.
Amazing I know! It's surprising that Johnna safely heated up the mashed potatoes considering the fact that the girl burns water. How? I have no idea. She can cook breakfast foods and tacos, anything else is..Well just inedible.
I can't really think of anything else really from Sunday so let's move on.
Monday, my parents went out for coffee with some friends, in the meantime we had a miniature cat fight live in our home! Claudia and Johnna both upset for minor reasons started going at it, but don't worry Ali and I stepped in and solved the "crisis". Now both parties are fine and there were no injuries. Honestly they didn't stay mad for more than five minutes and everything was back to normal.
Tuesday was my parents 20th anniversary! Yay them! They went out to eat and saw the new planet of the apes movie.
Wednesday, My parents, Alison and Claudia went to the beach to visit some friends. Emma, Simon, Andrew and Tempi went to a different beach with our adopted grandparents. The rest of us went to church. Johnna and I started house and dog sitting for Gideon's occupational therapist.
Thursday, Gideon had therapy.
Johnna, Blake and I went wake boarding, and Johnna gashed her head with a board. Ouch! Don't worry, we super glued it!
Mark, Nikki and my parents went on a double date.
That night Johnna and I discovered we had locked ourselves out of the house we were house sitting. (It was actually Johnna who locked us out, but I won't play the blame game.. ;) We could still feed the dogs since they are outside dogs.
Friday was great! Simon got his halo taken off and is now in a neck brace! Woot woot!
Also, we had a home made sushi night as a late celebration for Alison's birthday, her gifts were 4 infinity scarves and a pair of knockoff Vans shoes. Downside of Friday, Pascal got sick. *sad face*
Also, the sushi was great but pretty much everything went wrong at first. While my parents were with Simon getting his halo removed, I was home trying to prepare the spicy crab and crab rangoon for dinner. I didn't realize that the crab had gone bad so I happily got everything mixed up so my mom would have less to do when she got home. Not to mention that I taste tested, and of course I put all of the crab in a refrigerator that doesn't work. During the time that I was messing with crab stuff, Alison was starting the sticky rice. When my parents got home they discovered the crab problem and had to go buy more. Then, they went to check the rice and it was a goopy mess, we had to make another batch of everything. My mother was not pleased at all. In the end we had a dinner that was supposed to start at 6:30, start at around 8:15.
The sushi was really yummy though!
Saturday(which is today) we had a late birthday lunch of Country Fried steak for Emma, her presents were; running gear and Tangled the movie.
My mom somehow magically figured out how to open one of the doors to the inconveniently locked house!
My parents are headed to Alabama to visit a friend, and while they're gone over the weekend Temperance is staying with church friends, Gideon is staying with Mrs.Val his physical therapist, Simon and Andrew are staying with our adopted grandparents and the rest are at home being tortured I mean watched by us older kids.
Extra Tidbits: My Dad is on sabbatical right now, for those of you who don't know; a sabbatical is where someone takes time off, but still gets payed as if they were working. My Dad's sabbatical is for 30 days.
I'm really happy about it because he rarely takes time off and when he does it's usually for family reasons.
Out of the mouths of babes:
The scene is I'm laying on the boys bed playing with a toy guitar, Simon hops on the bed beside me.
Simon: Two words, Si-ing.
Me: That's one word.
Simon;Oh, I meant two sybables.
Me: Smile in awe of his adorableness.
Simon haloless!!

The Extras
Since this blog is about life in my family, I figure I should say something about the people who are around us.
We'll call them "The Extras."
I'll start with Blake.
Blake Alexander Bonts. Age:19
Blake is like a brother to all the children in the family, and a son to my parents. He and Mark met their freshman year of ROTC. -Side note, yes we've all been home schooled our whole lives but, Mark, Johnna, Alison and I have all taken at least 1 year of NJROTC.- Anyways, so they met their freshman year which was over 5 years ago, Mark got him to come to church and he's been family ever since.
Blake now lives in Mark's house trailer about 5 feet from our house, and is transferring his major from chemical engineering to commercial music. What can I say? He's a man after my Dad's own heart! It's been so interesting watching Blake grow and change into the young man he is today. 5 years ago he was very serious, closed off and although he was nice he still hadn't warmed up to anyone but Mark. Now he is warm, caring, he always helps us keep the house clean, gives us advice, has a questionable sense of humor and he changes diapers! There are a few downsides to having an unbiological teenage excuse me college age brother, for instance I can't walk around in a sports bra. However, the upsides outweigh the down, did I mention he cleans and changes diapers?
I love my "adopted" big brother!
Blake The Red Head
Nicole Renee Froelich."Nikki" Age:20 (on August 9th)
Nikki is Mark's awesome girlfriend. It took a little while for some of us to get used to her, but her adorableness just seeps in and you can't help but love her. Nikki is sweet, gentle and caring. She is fantastic with the kids, but best of all she can handle Mark and let me tell you, that is a great feat!
She moved here around a year ago and was brave enough to come to our church even though she didn't know anyone there. She and Mark started dating/courting January 26, 2014.
Nikki works in the Publix deli, which Mark really appreciates, because he likes sandwiches.
Overall everyone really likes Nikki! So yeah, love you!
Nikki The Girlfriend
So that's our extras for now, and I'll let you guys know if we get anymore!
We'll call them "The Extras."

Meet My Family!
Hey Guys! I'm going to give y'all a few words about each member of my family and I'll start with my Dad.
My Daddy is 46, his name is James Adam Hill. He goes by; Adam, Mr.Adam, Pastor Adam, P.A, Daddy Hill, or my personal favorite, Darth Vader. My Dad is the greatest man you could ever meet. He is a giant geek; all of his children have seen Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, Doctor Who, Firefly, and of course super hero movies! He is extremely smart, he can take apart and put back together pretty much anything, he's super tech savvy!
He is loving, has a great sense of humor, kind and patient; sure he gets mad at us occasionally but he never stays that way. Ever.
He is the leader of our house and lives according to the biblical standard. I know he's not perfect, but he is my personal super hero. He has taught me so much and I know I will continue to learn more from him.
Next, my Mamma. She is 40 years old and her name is name is Kiona Danielle Hill. Also known as Mamma Hill. My mom is an extraordinary woman of God.
She is always a strong rock in the midst of chaos. I've seen her handle some extremely difficult situations with ease. She is beautiful, strong, a great multi-tasker, and one of my best friends. Best of all she and my dad have a fantastic relationship!
My mom is the mother of all mothers, she has helped me through everything and I know she always will.
These are my beautiful parents!
Now to go through the siblings.
Mark Adam Hill. Age:19
Mark, although a HUGE know it all is a great big brother.
Yes, he always has to be right, yes he doesn't always know when he has lost the argument, and yes he's a weird history buff geek, (no offense to history buffs) but he has a big heart.
My older brother will help anyone who needs it, no questions asked. Okay well he might ask 1 or 2, but he'll still help.
He is definitely seeking after God and even though he and his fiance are gross to watch when they kiss, I know that he has a great future ahead of him.
Mark and his lovely girlfriend Nikki
Johnna Dianne Hill. Age:18
Johnna, she's little Miss Perfect. And when I say little, I mean little! She is twig thin, but fairly tall for a girl. I'm not sure how she stays that way considering she eats like a horse; constantly and messily. She's also a perfectionist, everything has to be just right.
She is athletic and loves to work out. (she's jealous of my muscle arms) She is very competitive, but good natured and will punch you at any given time so watch out!
Johnna is my best friend and has given many people great advice.
She is not currently interested in pursuing a relationship with anyone, but I like to pick people out for her.
She loves Jesus and her family more than anything, so I'd say her priorities are straight.
This is my gorgeous sister Johnna (I don't know why she's not smiling)
Charissa Shalom Hill. Age: 16 (This is me!)
I like to consider myself the comedian of the family. I like to make people laugh and I'm pretty darn good at it.
My parents call me the peace maker because I hate it when people argue so I find the best solution to stop the argument.
The only athletic thing I do is wake board.
I plan on going to cosmetology school since I love hair and makeup, and pretty much anything feminine.
I am working on keeping God my number 1, and so far I'm succeeding!
This is Me, Myself and I!

Alison Ruth Hill. Age:15
Alison has always been a helpful one. She likes to serve and that's a good quality.
On the downside she also likes to cry. And cry. And cry.
She cries about good food and bad food. She has happy tears, sad tears, mad tears all kinds of tears. She just cries.
Although she has gotten better recently so I have to give her some credit. Way to go Ali!
Alison really does have a kind heart and she's a lot of fun to be around.
However, she needs to be careful because she can be pretty naive, but sometimes that's a good thing.
She's really good at anything crafty. Crochet, knit, draw, paint, projects.
You name it!
This is the Crafty Ali!
Claudia Elise Hill. Age:13
Claudia is the big musician. I mean all of us can sing, but she has a lot of above average talent! She plays guitar, writes her own songs and sings like a bird.
Now she does have a tendency to get cocky because of her abilities, but don't worry I always put her in her place! ;-)
Claudia's only major issue is anger. She easily gets mad and argues. We're working on it.
When she's not angry, she is one of the most fun people to be around!
This is the Talented Lala (her nickname)
Emma Katherine Hill. Age:12
Emma is a bit kookier than the rest of us. We love her all the more for it!
Of course, being the preteen she is we often find ourselves wanting to hide from her. Turns out she's not all that scary. Tweens can actually be pretty cool. Gosh, I can't believe I just typed that.
She's still in that stage where she's figuring out what kind of person she will be, where her talents lie, and what she likes to do. So far she likes making jewelry and enjoying her childhood.
Emma the Tweeny Bopper
Judah Cole Hill. Age:10(in less than a month)
Judah, is an average 10 year old boy. He likes video games, playing outside and getting dirty.
He also is probably the best male singer in the family other than my dad.
I personally think he's going to be a heart-breaker. My opinion may be slightly biased..
Judah is great when we need an extra hand to do little jobs; like take out the trash or unload the dishwasher. He's doesn't talk all the time, but when he does you should listen.
He always watches out for his younger siblings and that makes me a proud sister!
Judah the Guard Bro
Levi Owen Hill. Age:8
Levi is definitely a goofball! He's crazy and somewhat a monkey
He's also one of the sweetest kids you could ever have the pleasure of meeting.
Levi loves to love on people. He gives great hugs, and is a good snuggle buddy!
He's really smart and figures things out really well.
If only he would take a breath in between words!
Lovable Levi
Simon Taylor Hill. Age:5
Simon Taylor, known to many as Simon Trouble. He's a rowdy one, always running around and playing, and getting into everything. He likes to explore.
Simon can be sweet and usually is, but for some reason he likes to torture Johnna's cat(Pascal). Oh well, some things can't be helped. Just kidding!
We remove Pascal from harm's way.
Unfortunately, over this past spring break Simon injured his second vertebrae.
Now he is wearing a halo. Which he will hopefully get off sooner rather than later.
He also likes to think of himself as Iron Man.
Which I think helps him while he's temporarily disabled.
Simon Iron Man Trouble
Andrew Shepard Hill. Age:5
Andrew is Simon's fraternal twin. He is.. hmm how do I put this? Strange. Don't get me wrong, the kid is smart and if you give him some legos he is an amazing architect! Honestly, he's just a weird kid, he thinks differently than the rest of us. It's very endearing. Andrew even made up his own super hero and calls himself the Red Panther. He can be a bit of a whiner, but Andrew is definitely a great kid!
Andrew the Red Panther
Temperance Danielle Hill. Age:3
If you could only use one word to describe the word Diva, that word would be Tempi.
Tempi is my buddy, we use the buddy system at our house which means I help take care of her needs. So she is my prodigy.
She changes clothes at least 3 times a day. Has to have her coffee in the morning.
And she will not sleep without someone else in the room. She's adorable.
She speaks in full conversations with adults, teenagers, children, and infants.
She says she loves me more than silverware! (I'm hoping that's a lot)
Tempi the Diva
Gideon Samuel Hill. Age:2
Gideon is our miracle baby. He was born not breathing and didn't breathe for 30-45 minutes.
During which we and everyone we know prayed, and prayed, and prayed.
Finally, my dad called us from the ambulance saying he was breathing.(It was a home birth)
He lived in the Shands NICU for 25 days. When he came home, it was hard trying to accommodate him. You see Gideon now has Cerebral Palsy. That basically means he can't control his muscles.
The motor skill part of his brain doesn't work,so his brain is having to form new pathways in order for him to move correctly. Gideon is by no means stupid. Please do not ever call someone who is mentally disabled, stupid or retarded. Gideon is probably smarter than most 2 and 3 year olds.
He is improving everyday. He has a sense of humor and he loves peanut butter.
Anyone who meets him automatically falls in love, he has the biggest smile and loves to laugh.
G-Man!!
Victoria Jewel Hill. Age:6 months
Since Tori is so young I can't really say much about her personality. I can tell you she drools a lot, likes to chew on anything in her reach, scoots around everywhere, and likes to see how much of her fist she can get in her mouth at one time.
Tori Drools-A-Lot
Thank you all so much for reading this post. I hope you've enjoyed "Meeting My Family".

Introduction to My Blog
This blog is about life in my family. We live in the Florida Panhandle. There are 13 kids (Not including the extras that come around) and 2 parents (Go figure!). The age range is from 19 years-10 months. All of us children are completely biologically related and were born naturally. Yes my mom is Wonder woman!
Before you ask; No we're not Catholic or Mormon, yes my parents know what causes children and no they don't need a new hobby. They like the one they have. We are a Christian family with no particular denomination. We love Jesus and that's what matters!
In case you were wondering; I am number 3 in the line up, I'm 17 years old and very much a female.
Anyways, this blog is about life in this wonderfully large family I have! I will be praying for all of you and can't wait to tell you more about my family!
